UNIT ONE AND TWO

 

    Double Exposure    17/09/25

For the double exposure, I took a picture of James Harden in a Houston Rockets jersey in a black and white portrait and used the blended tool to color him in with a variety of different colors. 

ROTOCOPYING

I used the Adobe After Effects app, which then utilized a sample of files for the shark in the water. I then used the roto brush to brush off the shark, creating a pink outline that would keep the shark in place and change the water background to a black background. After that, I got 

a beach as my background and dragged it behind the shark, which now makes it so that the shark is out and now on land.

This is the final product of a rotocopy with the shark not in it.

A final product with Rotoscoping.

At the start of using Adobe Illustrator, I used a Shape box to create an oval shape, then copied it and used the Command Ctrl+D to make it go in a loop. Then I made both the background and the Shape colour an orangish colour.

Sound and film

Diegetic sound is any sound originating from within the story's world that characters in the narrative can hear.

Non-diegetic sound refers to elements that are played after the entire film has been completed, such as narrative speech from a documentary, background music, or sound effects.

. This makes it stand out from other films. Voice-over narration tells us what is happening in the movie and the documentary, featuring narrators such as David Attenborough and Morgan Freeman.

Soundtrack- A soundtrack is the music that is made for the show or movie, such as The Avengers

Foley Sounds

Foley sound is the art of recreating sounds and adding them in via a mixer who uses the sounds made by hand and creates them to the actual thing, such as walking in snow by stepping on sand. Some examples are Wolverine's claws, which are made by a knife coming out of the sheath, and when they retract, they are made from chicken and turkey carcasses.

Copyright-free music

I used the song "Scream Villain" from the website bensound due to its royalty-free nature and the fact that it cannot be copyrighted. Copyright means that if someone already owns the sound or effects, they are eligible to sue you due to the copyright. The only ways to stop it are to use the copyright symbol or to visit a different website that offers free music, such as Bensound.

Copyright is important because it protects the creator's property, granting them the right to control

Typephography
Typography is the art and the technique of arranging type to make written language legible, readable, and visually appealing.

SOS stands for Shoot on sight/ Score on sight. I use it for my team names for matches or clan tags.

It's a monogram, making the Shoot on sight/ score on sight shorter by making it into SOS.

You needed three layers: one with the text, another with the playback for the glitch, and an adjustment layer that makes the glitch work.

This is the video of the SOS glitching due to the effect that was made.

I chose to use SOS as it's used for my team's name in games.

The MightyCast is about UFC fights and upcoming events. The owner of the MightyCast is professional UFC champion and One Championship legend Demetrius Johnson, who is known by the Nickname Mighty Mouse. Demetrius Johnson's last podcast was on the UFC event 320, Alex Pereira Vs Magomed Ankalaev. You can find the Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and other platforms. The podcast mainly talks bout the MMA combat sports. It features top fighters, trainers, and outlines how fighters prepare for their matches. The most recent guest was Michael Venom Page, also known as MVP. They talked about his most recent fight against Cannonier at UFC 319. They also spoke about his opinion on Khamzat Chimaev vs Dricus Du Plessis and his experience in producing films. I like this podcast because it's from a retired UFC legend, and he knows the feeling of fighting for a belt, the impact of losing, and winning.

MATTE PAINTING = digital creations of realistic backgrounds, which are mixed by combining different things together.

A famous person who popularized it was Peter Ellenshaw, who made it work for Mary Poppins.

This is an image in The Last of Us using matte painting.

It gives the impression that the buildings in the background have decayed and been left unattended for many decades.

I appreciate the use of matte painting here, as it creates an ominous vibe, as the city is ruined and no longer operational.

In The Emperor Strikes Back in Star Wars, we see the guy paint the millenium falcon due to them not being able to actually build it, but painted it in front of a glass, making our eyes trick so it looks like it's staying still.

This is the matte painting used in Photoshop as a man is rowing in a canoe with the pavement blended into the ground.

Now this is what it looks like as I brushed the stairs and released the mouse when it went back and forth. Lowering the opacity to 11% to see the water blended into the lower steps.

This is the finished piece of matte painting using a layer mask. You can see how the lower steps are visible in the water.

Now you can see how matte painting comes into effect as a huge shark fin is now in the frame.

Now it looks like the shark is guarding a sanctuary, as when I used the brush tool and lowered the opacity to 11% it makes it look like a paradise behind the shark.

These include styles, lining, and non-lining figures, as well as different types of serifs.

These are the basic types of terms and are seen in how they're used in media.

In this project, I found some easy to understand how to use some of the Adobe apps. The first project was using double exposure on Photoshop, which was easy. I really just used the paint tools and blended them with a picture of James Harden in black and white in HD. This was the first time using the blending options, and I really liked it. One of the easiest projects was using the glitch effect in Photoshop. This was just to follow some instructions in the app and apply them to your one. One of the most difficult ones I found was using Adobe After Effects using the Rotoscoping tool. The reason I found it hard was because of how you have to follow the outline of the shark and then use the pin tool to make it stay still, then make it change colour without using the background. The most recent one I did was Matte painting, which was a very simple process if you followed the instructions. Using the app Photoshop, it was easy due to how simple the instructions were and how the final image looked. Overall,  I enjoyed this due to how easy and simple some of the works were.
